Relaxed, but already back at it

I'm back at work after a verrrry lovely four days of absolute mooch!

It was bliss. And you know what? When I arrived back at work today, it actually felt like I'd had some time off. Usually weekends, recently at least, have seemed somewhat like uber-extended evenings and not at all like two distinct days away from work. But this did. Yes, it didn't feel like four whole days off -- but it did feel like at least 2.

So now I'm back at work and already deeply entrenched in the day to day. Somehow though, I managed to get out today before 8pm. But I suspect that'll be the last of it's kind for a while. The game is developing on rather nicely, but it's kinda like boiling up a pot of soup -- you've got to keep your eye on it. But enough of work, and such.

So what does it say on my little calender thingy today? I've not quoted one of these for a while. It says, "The way you give your gift matters more than what you give." I think I'd get more luck from a Magic 8 ball.

I asked "Will I cure all the ills of the world and usher in a new age of peace for all man and womankind, all animals, plants and fungi, and indeed all Aliens of multitude shapes and sizes that should happen to stop by the Earth on their way to the nearest galactic Burger King in the sky?"

And my friends, it tells me that "it is decidedly so." So watch this space.

This chicken freaks me out.

He'll do anything you ask.

Today I lazed

Today I...
  • Slept in, till past midday.
  • Washed my dirty clothes, and hung them up to dry.
  • Thought about a certain storyline... but didn't write it down
  • Pondered updating my site, but didn't.
  • Watched a load of BBC1 TV, since that's about the only channel I get here, reliably.
  • Listened to (and sung along with) some of the new CDs I got recently: Beck's "Odelay," "Mutations," "Midnight Vultures" and "Sea Change," Björk's "Post" and "Debut," a little bit of Deep Forest's "Comparsa" and "Music.Detected_" and just a little bit of Delerium's "Karma."
So generally just lazying about.

Sunny days, then rain

It's been quite warm and sunny, recently... but yesterday it rained, and again today. I can only hope the Sun will return soon...

But the Weather's definitely heading in the right direction! And I can be thankful for that, at least.

Nigel visited over the Weekend, so that was nice -- it's been a while since I've seen him. We just watched a DVD (the BBC's "Walking with Cavemen" -- very fascinating!) and generally mooched around and relaxed.

I definitely prefer working late on week days, than giving up my weekend. I think I'd go crazy without that time away from work -- though sometimes it's hard to get far enough from the worry! But I've slowly developed coping mechanisms -- I'm definitely no friend of stress, even if it is a familiar bedfellow now.

Bedfellow -- interesting word, isn't it! And no, there's been none of those for a long long time! I have strong suspicions my love life will really take off sometime later, when I'm somewhat more geriatric. I just hope my heart will be able to cope. The physical one as well as the metaphoric!

I've been thinking a lot about writing, recently. Possibly because I brushed off my last major Civilization 3 gaming infection a couple of months ago. So that's left me with a lot of spare time in my spare time. ;)

I bought a new book -- a new one by one of my favourite Sci-Fi authors, Greg Bear. It's ages since I read a good book and I'm surprising myself at how fast I read now -- I used to be such a slow reader, carefully mulling over each and every word and associated thoughts. Maybe it all just depends on what I'm reading.

I was just about to start talking about some of my writing thougths, but I think I'll do that in my writing blog, instead. It's desperately in need of an update!

Yes, I know my photo blog needs attention, too. And yeah I know I still haven't put up any of my photos from Lisbon or Barcelona -- but I swear I'll do it at some stage! :) Hasn't been many photos since then -- a few around Christmas though, when I visited my Aunt, Uncle and other relatives of my Mum. So those should be developed soon enough -- perhaps we can expect them on the blog sometime before 2035? I hope so.

Ahh well, not much more to report. Be good, all. :)
