Work was relatively uneventful. Afterwards, I met up with Nigel at the Pickerel (surprise, surprise!) and then in walked Wayne (ex IT Manager from Creature Labs) and Francis. So we all talked till about an hour ago. It was a great night -- we talked through a lot of different things :-) A couple of us (not naming names, but suffice to say it wasn't me or Wayne) got rather heated with each other. But that's cool, and we all worked through it. That's what's good about friendship -- you can go off on one, and know you're not completely off on an unsafe limb. That's what friendship should be about.

Anyhow. I updated my OUT in the UK profile summary. This summary is just a very short piece of text that is shown as an "introduction to you" as it were -- I write more about me in my full profile. Mostly I write it in a kind of "Hi - I'm a 25 year old guy from New Zealand" kind of way -- but sometimes I use them as a chance to make a bit of a statement. This was one of those times, and here is my latest profile text (has to be under 75 words -- my screen name is usually "Ash UK Kiwi"): ( Screen name: Consistently Ash UK Kiwi ) I refuse to act the part you write for me in your play. I'll just be me, and stick to what I think is right and wrong. Attach labels, assess my performance as you see fit -- it's your right. Always remember that books and magazines can both have pretty covers, but a book has more substance than a magazine and memory of it is not as fleeting. I will not be your magazine.

Okay, so what was that I said about regular updates? Sorry!

Last week was spent working my butt off on our new breed of Grendel for Docking Station and Creatures 3 -- the Brigand Grendels. I'll post a link up as soon as they're available to the public.

Nigel came around a couple of nights last week. We watched Hedwig and now he seems to have warmed to it, to the point where he now says he loves it!

I spent the weekend at home. I really didn't have the money to go out -- my bank balance dropped to an all time low on Friday. So I did a whole lot of domestic things like the washing... and also spent a fair amount of time working on my pre-Norman Civilization 3 scenario!

Well I have had to deal with a bit of a nightmare in our Docking Station discussion forums at work, today -- I'm the Moderator there, and sometimes people don't like me enforcing our rules :-)

I watched Lonely Hearts Club this evening, and loved it! Some of the characters are so endearing -- and not just because not just one of them was cute! It took ages for the Michael Bergin appearance, though. But when he finally appeared, I was enraptured. May be unbelievable to some, but I haven't seen him on TV or film before -- only as static photos! He's even better fully animated though :-) Oh god, and I think my Mum reads this blog...

Early evening yesterday was spent at the Pickerel with Nigel, Richard, Janine, Tom & Kevin. Was home relatively early -- listened to more R.E.M. and watched a couple of Hedwig songs. I think I'm starting to learn the words of them now -- argh! What's Michal going to say?!

When I arrived at work today I as greeted by a small parcel from Amazon.co.uk, so now I'll just plug in my headphones and listen to Odyssey Through O2 by Jean Michel Jarre whilst working steadfast on clearing the aftershock of our latest Newsletter at work.

Early-evening yesterday was spent working on my pre-Norman UK/Ireland scenario for the game Civilization 3. It's going pretty well now -- I've been editing it, tweaking unit stats and rules, then play-testing.. etc Very fun :-)

Then later on Nigel came over -- he'd just got back from Ireland. He was very tired, and so didn't stay long. I played him a few songs from my Hedwig and the Angry Inch DVD but he didn't seem to appreciate them as much as I currently do.

No sign of my Amazon.co.uk delivery yet -- lol, so much for 24 hours! Well, I realise I'm probably just being impatient.. but hey!

So far today I've been trying to get our next Newsletter out -- it will be here, probably tonight or tomorrow.

I saw my friend Helen Meats today, for lunch -- to make up for missing her last week! Good to see her, and catch up.

Took some photos in for processing this morning, and they're now ready -- there's a couple of good ones, including one of me and Claire at the party on Saturday. So I'll probably open a new photos page for this blog, later tonight! (ie... stay tuned!)

The party was great! Claire and Annabel came along, but Annabel wasn't feeling great so she left early. I *somehow* managed to pace my drinking, and hardly got drunk at all -- but still had fun anyhow! :-)

Saw a lot of local friends, which was great. Also, I was rather forward and flirted with a guy I've had a crush on for years! And here I am trying to claim I wasn't under the effects of alcohol! But I have no regrets.

I tried to coax Claire to leave when I did -- at around 3am or so -- but instead had to leave her at the party. I was abruptly woken from my sleep by a rather worried Annabel who had been waiting up for Claire to return. But I got back to sleep soon enough, and kept on sleeping till midday today! heheh!

I even managed to keep well within my budget -- I thought I might end up spending a lot more than I did.

I've got a great new pair of jeans -- brownish! A cool pair of shoes -- DC, also brown. And about three tops and two t-shirts. I'm very pleased with it all -- and can't wait to dress up for the party tonight!

Anyhow! I had drinks at the Pickerel after work with my dear friend Virginie -- a Frencho. Don't be shocked :-) It's just my little term of endearment for her people. I love Frenchos really... ;-) (long story!) Then Matt, her boyfriend, appeared -- and we went to the Curry King for an Indian meal. Was quite nice too, though I felt their waiters were rushing a bit too much. But anyhow -- nice not to have to go home early on a Friday night of all nights!

Tomorrow, clothes-shopping apparently! But you know me, always changing my mind... but I can't really do that now, because I'd be embarrasing myself to my blog's audience. Oops!

What do I want? Well, something quite specific actually. I want a new pair of jeans, slightly flared and tight around the legs and bum :-) And I want a lovely new top too. I'm going to a party tomorrow night, so it would be good if I could have something half decent to wear!! I'll keep you informed :-)

I don't know quite how, but I was awake at 7am today and it's a Friday! How very strange.

I didn't sleep well, but I did sleep enough so that I'm not yawning all that much, which is good -- because it looks so bad when I'm sitting here yawning, or even worse.. yawning when someone is talking to me!

Just as I was drifting off to sleep last night, I was awakened by my horrendously loud home phone -- it was Siobhan ringing from Ireland, wondering if Nigel had phoned me. He hadn't but I knew straight away things weren't right. I suspect, after driving Siobhan and all her things back to Ireland, Nigel has now been well and truly dumped. But we'll see what he says when he rings. I promise I won't tell him "I did warn you!" But I will be thinking it.

Earlier in the evening, Claire and Annabel popped over with my mobile -- it's amazing how naked one can feel without it! They didn't stop for coffee though, but we have freshened our intent to have a DVD evening at my place in the near future. Should be a good night :-)

Well, work to do so I must go! More from me later, no doubt.

At 8:24 PM, Frimlin posted this:

I need to have a bit of a rant, so please bear with me.

I'm a faithful Amazon.co.uk customer, and I've so far used it for buying quite a lot of things -- no, not just books! When they say Dispatches in 24 hours I just wish they actually meant that. So many of my recent orders have been just because of that dispatch time promise -- for example, I wanted to get my recent DVD and CD order before the weekend. And though their site said I should expect it to be delivered on the 18th, they didn't dispatch it till just tonight! Because it delivers to work, it probably won't arrive till Monday now -- because I won't be there over the weekend. Never once did they update their site to tell me this either, until the order was actually dispatched. Flugitaltoell!

And people tell me I'm crazy shopping there anyhow, because of the fact they charge for postage whereas other stores don't. So it might be the time to look elsewhere, at long last.

By the way, the reason I didn't mind them charging for postage is because I firmly believe, some way or another, that they would end up having to pay it for me. And that could mean that their company isn't as financially successful as they could be -- and it might mean they have to close. I'd rather pay for what I'm getting -- service & postage included -- than end up having to look elsewhere because they couldn't remain as profitable, and so had to close.

Nobody can say I'm not a loyal customer. But I have morals, and I like to adhere to them!

Okay so I do sound overly concerned about their finances, don't I! But trust me, I don't own Amazon.co.uk -- I really don't. I just have a screwy sense of logic sometimes! :P

I blame the brevity of my last blog entry on the hangover I was suffering from the night before. I had a great time actually. I went to the Fleur de Lys with my friend Vicky, and we were joined by my friends Claire, Annabel and Rob a bit later. I didn't make it home until quarter to one which wasn't wise considering I'm trying to get up earlier. Needless to say, this morning I did not!

It's been a busy day today, so far -- and there's still a heck of a lot of it left. I was meant to meet my friend Helen for lunch today, but unfortunately I left my mobile over at Claire and Annabel's place, last night after being at the pub. So poor Helen would have come searching for me, and trying to call me, and there was nothing I could do. I did check out on Quayside to see if she was there, but she wasn't. Later, Lisa said she'd seen Helen who'd requested I phone her, which obviously I can't do! Ahh dilemmas!

My closing word for this entry regards the stimulation of part of our brains. Well, you'd hope that all my entries do that :-) but I'm talking about doing so in a scientific way... oh anyhow, read this article about recent scientific studies into out of body experiences. They're being demystified now the scientists can recreate the phenomenon in the lab. Part of me thinks that's cool, the other part thinks "Phoooey!"

Ooh and news just at hand: Signs of water found on distant (extra-solar) planets! We do live in such interesting times. Well, if you like this kind of thing :-)

So you're wondering what I ordered. Well, the music CD is Odyssey through O2 by Jean Michel Jarre. Let's just say I'm a massive closet fan of his music. The DVD was The Broken Hearts Club -- Dean Cain, and apparently a Michael Bergin appearance too. Enough said. ;-)

I'm thinking this could be an excellent way for me to keep myself updated on storylines I'm writing -- ie on a blog that isn't public like this one :-) But I've never really been one to stick to writing diaries, so it could well be that this particular blog will be doomed to the same fate. But as it is, I've updated this blog more often this year than my site, frimlin.com or my personal site. So that says something.

What exactly it says, I don't exactly know. I'll leave you to ponder on it ;-)
