Azuremyst Avengers is a friendly and mature new guild on the WoW EU realm Shadowsong. We aim to help the Draenei avenge the wrongs done against them. Not a super-serious guild, just out to help each other enjoy the game, and to have fun raiding.

6 Months Old Today!

Hi all!

Yes it is true. Today, April 12th 2007, we celebrate being six months old.

On October 12th 2006 Frimlin, in his early level 50s, handed in a fully signed guild charter at Stormwind for a brand new guild named "Azuremyst Avengers." Six months later and we're still very much active. :)

For ages I had been either guildless or a member of a succession of failed guilds, both as Frimlin my Priest and also as Maev my first 60, a Mage. Having previously run a guild back in the mid 1990s on one of the first MMORPGs I reckoned I was in a good position to do a decent job of creating a WoW guild too.

It took a while to convince people to help sign the charter, but really it wasn't all as bad as I thought it might be. Only a few days after purchasing the charter, it was full and ready to be handed in. Soon after doing so, I actively recruiting new members of all races, classes, levels, shapes and sizes. Within only a couple of weeks we had over 100 members.

With such rapid and unchecked growth, of course although lots of great members joined and are still in today, we also got some bad eggs too. These people caused a bit of anguish for some members, particularly as I had recruited all new members with the promise of the guild being mainly for mature behaving folk and especially adults like myself.

Thankfully, either the bad eggs were removed or they left on their own accord, and soon after we found that all those who were left were rather decent sorts. Friendships were formed, peace reigned, and soon we could knuckle down on preparing ourselves to raid the lower level raiding instances like Zul'Gurub.

Unfortunately at the time there just weren't enough level 60s online at the right times to allow us to raid purely with guild members. So soon we formed two raiding alliances with other guilds: Illuminati and Sparks of the Phoenix. With these two guilds we were at least able to get into Zul'Gurub, and eventually also The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, though we unfortunately never really got all that far in time and soon Christmas and then the arrival of The Burning Crusade ended all our raiding in Azeroth.

Soon we poured into Outland, and gradually worked our way through the 60s and up towards 70. As a guild populated by mostly adults with active real life commitments, leveling wasn't always all that fast. Some individuals and some classes soared ahead, while others lagged behind. Soon some of our members were on the path to becoming attuned to Karazhan, and it was decided that this seemed like a worthy goal for the guild as a whole.

Now as we enter April and our sixth month together, we have at least 10 members attuned and ready to enter Karazhan, and even more on their way. After a long period (over 3 months) with a hold on active recruitment, I have started up again and we are now recruiting new members to help us in our Karazhan efforts -- most especially looking for new tanks, as our guild has always had so few regular and dependable ones.

A warm and exciting buzz is starting to fill the guild. New members are arriving, and more people are becoming attuned and actively gearing up for Karazhan. The time is close at hand. :)

Thank you so much for being part of this guild and keeping us an active and fun place to be for the last six months. A lot of fun awaits us, and we are in a great position considering we're not a hard raid core guild and so many of us have little time to play the game. I look forward to our continued future together. :)

Please raise your glass to us! Hip hip, hooray!

Kind regards,

Frimlin

Karazhan, we come for you!

Just as it took a while before TBC to get enough guild members able and willing to enter Zul'Gurub and Ahn'Qiraj, it has taken us some time for Karazhan also. As we're not a hard core raiding guild, it is easy to see why; many of us work most of the day, and some of us at odd hours. Though this is totally fine, as the guild was formed mostly with adults in mind, some of our members have felt it best to leave the guild and seek a hard core raiding guild rather than stick with us and help to get the rest of us attuned and ready gear-wise for Karazhan. Though obviously this is a shame, we wish them well in finding a new guild that suits their requirements.

For those loyal members who remain, I ask you to please continue with us, as I am certain we are now very close to entering Karazhan as a guild group. I believe as we are mostly adults, and with the guild not targetted at being uber competitive, we'll be in a much better position to deal with raid boss strategies than other guilds. I also thank you for your loyalty and perseverance with us. :)

So how do you get attuned for Karazhan? You might have noticed I've kept the guild message of the day updated with a bit of information -- mostly pointing you to check out the information on the forums. But here is a bit of helpful information.

Firstly, you can check here for a guide to getting the Master's Key, for access to Karazhan. But basically you need to do the following:

Gain level 70, and purchase a flying mount.

Obtain and complete the two quests given by the NPC outside Karazhan, in Deadwind Pass in Azeroth's Eastern Kingdoms (just east of Darkshire).

Obtain from the same NPC another quest to go speak to an NPC north of Dalaran.

Visit this NPC and obtain another quest to speak to the Naaru A'dal in the centre of Shattrath in Outland. He will ask you to obtain the first fragement of the key.

Throughout the next instances listed you need to obtain good gear -- a good first goal is to ensure all your gear is *at least* blue or better.

Gather a group for the Shadow Labs in Auchindoun, and obtain the first key fragment from near to the last boss, Murmur. When you have this, return it to A'dal who will give you a quest for the second and third key fragments.

Group for a run in Coilfang's Steam Vaults and obtain the second key fragment.

Now either you need to obtain the quest "Breaking into the Arcatraz" by doing other Consortium quests for the Prince at Stormspire in Netherstorm, or you need to get someone with an Arcatraz Key. Then enter Arcatraz as a group and obtain the third key fragment.

Return the second and third key fragments to A'dal in Shattrath. He will send you to speak to Medivh in the Black Morass, which is a Caverns of Time instance located in Tanaris, Kalimdor on Azeroth. To enter there you must have first completed the Escape from Old Durnhold quest, to break Thrall out of Durnhold Keep. Once you've finished the Black Morass, speak to Medivh for the Master's Key.

Return to Ad'al who will send you back to Karazhan where you can now begin Karazhan specific quests only available to you when you're attuned -- which you will now be. :)

So how can you get this far whilst working hard at work? Well you will need to decide that yourself. Whatever the case, you will need to make at least some effort to get the relevant quests and quest items needed for attunement, as listed briefly above. As well as this, gear is also important. I know some guild members weren't yet 60 when we were raiding pre-TBC, so it is even more appropriate for you to concentrate on going to lots of instances like Shadow Labs, Shattered Halls, Steam Vaults, Botanica, Mechanar and Arcatraz to get better gear and more experience with groups.

How can you get groups for these places? Though of course there is the LFG tool, which works well, there are far better ways to get groups for these instances. I recommend first getting to know your other guild members and make friends with them, because it is far better to go to instances with a friend or two than with strangers. You absolutely cannot expect me or anyone else in the guild to setup planned instances for you, and instead you need to be proactive. I most strongly recommend you use GEM to give other guild members days in advance to plan for certain instances. Some of us need that time to plan and make sure we are available, especially with having commitments to both our work and families.

Once again, thank you for your perseverance and loyalty. It's not been fun watching some of our members leaving, but there is a lot of good in those that remain, and I am comforted by that. I've been in a succession of guilds, and ours is really warm, friendly and stable in comparison.

Thanks again all and with kind regard,

Frimlin

Frimlin on Holiday

Heya all! :) As most of you should know by now, today at 5pm I fly out of Manchester Airport for a 3 week holiday in my homeland of New Zealand.

The flight, including brief stops in Frankfurt and Sydney, will take around about 30 hours all up -- so it's not exactly a fun journey, as most of the time you're just sitting in a seat. But hey, I do that already both at work and when I play WoW, lol!

Anyhow, I will be back by the 13th of March and I look forward to finishing off getting to level 70 myself, and then joining the rest of you in our raids on the new endgame raiding content we've been presented with in The Burning Crusade.

In case you didn't know, our guild turned 4 months old the other day. That's really not very long, and we have a lot to feel proud of. I am confident we will continue from strength to strength and strongly believe in each and every one of us. :) Thanks for showing your commitment and loyalty, as this has made the guild what it is.

In my absence, I am entrusting Ayianna especially to keep my Apothecary office warm and tidy. :)

Thanks everyone -- see you all in a couple of weeks!

Guild's First 70s

I'd just like to take a brief moment to extend my congratulations to Zaneru for being our guild's first member to reach level 70, on Friday the 2nd of February.

Unlike some on our server, who power-levelled their characters whilst staying online every day for a week in a row, Zan has been taking it relatively easily by simply doing quests and instances whilst still working at her job. This is admirable, and I congratulate her especially for this. :)

Congratulations are also due for Ayianna (Kviri) who early this morning became our guild's second level 70 member. Since she is a Druid, earlier this week at level 68 she became our first guild member able to fly in Outland. Congratulations Ayianna
